Graham Evison - Leaving RMS Trent Ports

Graham Evison Managing Director of RMS Trent Ports will reach normal retirement age during the middle of next year however after discussion and agreement with members of the RMS Board, Graham has decided to retire at the end of December 2012. The company hopes to make an announcement for a successor for Graham soon, in the meantime Mike Kirby the Group COO will be in daily charge of the Trent operations.

The RMS Group wishes Graham the very best for a long and happy retirement and would at the same time like to thank Graham for all the hard work which he has done in his time with the company. Graham has actively been laying down new foundations for a long future for RMS Trent Ports which will mean that new and exciting milestones can be reached as the company continues to prosper.

Great news at the RMS Trent Port

Seventeen new jobs are to be created now RMS Trent Ports near Scunthorpe has become the latest company to benefit from the £10m Regional Growth Fund (RGF).


North Lincolnshire Council, accountable for the fund, has awarded the company £283,780, it was announced today (Friday Nov 9).

Flixborough Wharf near Scunthorpe - beside the River Trent

The wharf business offers port agency services, stevedoring, ships' charter, warehousing and storage, and transport and logistics services to a wide range of clients.

The money will also support the plant in resurfacing operational areas and buying new machinery.

RMS Group along with our Chief Executives other interests, Danbrit Shipping & East Trans, have become Founding Members of the Humber Port Network.

Humber Port Network is a collaboration of Humber businesses and the local authorities and the University of Hull, who are working to promote the benefits of the region on the international stage.


mv “Tharsis” – Maiden Voyage to Goole

The third generation mv “THARSIS” arrived at RMS Europe Ltd Goole terminal from Duisburg on the morning tide 04.10.12 carrying a full cargo of 1,885 tonnes.  The vessel is contracted to RMS (Rhenus Maritime Services. Duisburg) to operate mainly on the Duisburg/Goole/Duisburg “Conventional Liner Service” After discharge at the undercover Steel Terminal the vessel will move to the outside berth to load abt 1,700 tonnes of export cargo destined to the River Rhine.

Mike Johnston Appointed General Manager - RMS Goole

Mike Johnston has been appointed as General Manager at RMS Europe Ltd, Goole.

Mike joined RMS Europe Limited as Transport Manager in 2001 and earlier in 2012 was appointed to oversee the RMS Group Transport operations in Goole and the Trent Ports.  Before joining RMS - Mike worked for Corus (now TATA Steel) in their shipping/transport department and therefore has an appreciation of both the supplier/producer side of the business as well as the port operations and Transport. Since joining RMS Mike has qualified as a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers by examination.

New Operations Manager for RMS

Humber-based port operator RMS Group Holdings has appointed Mike Kirby as chief operations officer.

The Group’s operations include the Boothferry Terminal and covered steel terminal at Goole where he started as yard foreman and worked his way up to Managing Director. He was a member of the management team behind the RMS secondary management buy-out in July 2007, led by the present CEO, Peter Aarosin.
